Dev Blog Update: All Core Systems Are Complete

We’ve officially reached a major milestone—every core system for SkyPuffs is now built.

From breeding and hatching to hunting, feeding, pairing, retiring, and flying, all major features are in place. The groundwork is done. What comes next is the final phase: cleanup, testing, and polish.

We’ll be spending this next stretch tying everything together, debugging edge cases, and making sure the experience is smooth from start to finish.

We’re not at launch just yet—but we’re standing on a finished foundation.
The skies are almost ready.

Dev Blog Update: Pairing System Complete!

Another major system is finished—SkyPuff pairing is now fully implemented and has officially passed its first round of testing.

Puffs can now be paired in-world through the Breeding menu, locking them together as mates for life (unless unpaired manually). The system handles ownership checks, pairing status, and server validation—everything needed to ensure smooth, secure breeding.

We’ve moved this to the “Test Me” pile, and so far it’s looking solid.

Every feature we wrap brings us closer to launch—stay tuned, we’re nearly there.

Retirement System – Up and Running!

We’re happy to share that the Retirement System for SkyPuffs is now complete and in final testing.

When a Puff reaches the end of its active life, it will officially retire—ceasing to eat, hunt, or breed. But retirement doesn’t mean disappearing. Retired Puffs remain in-world as keepsake companions, preserving their flight ability, custom name, and full lineage display. They’re no longer part of the active gameplay loop, but they still feel very much alive—serving as a lasting reminder of your journey together.

Players will also earn retirement points based on each Puff’s lifetime food consumption. These points will be redeemable in dedicated vendors, designed specifically for retired Puff caretakers.

With this feature complete, we’re down to just a few final tasks before launch.

Dev Blog Update: Flight Systems Online!

We’re thrilled to share another major milestone—flight is officially live for SkyPuffs! Our Puffs now soar through the skies, and we’ve completed the final mesh for the Puffport ATC Tower, the Puff Fuel Station, and the Puff Egg model.

Each of these elements plays a critical role in the SkyPuff experience:

  • Puffport ATC Tower will serve as the in-world controller for Puff flight zones.
  • Puff Fuel Station lets players refuel their Puffs for hunting and breeding readiness.
  • Puff Egg is finalized and already in use, ready to hatch into your next generation of airborne companions.

Check out the main store display, with live, flying SkyPuffs circling for all to see. The skies are finally coming to life!


What’s Done:

  • Puffs are flying in-world for their final tests.
  • Final mesh and texture work complete for Fuel Station, Tower, and Egg.
  • All major systems—breeding, hunting, hatching, feeding—are now implemented and stable.

We’re down to the final stretch! With just a few more systems left to polish, SkyPuffs are almost ready for launch.

Dev Blog #1 – Lifting Off!

We’re excited to officially open the doors on our Dev Blog! SkyPuffs has been quietly evolving behind the clouds, and it’s time to start sharing what we’ve been building.

Over the last few months, we’ve laid the foundation for nearly every core system in the game. From trait inheritance and food mechanics to hatching, flying, and hunting, our little Puffs are officially alive and thriving.

Here’s a quick look at what’s already done and working in-world:

  • ✅ Puffs can be bred, create eggs, and hatch into new generations, each with their own inherited traits and appearances.
  • ✅ Puff menus display traits and parent traits.
  • ✅ Puffs fly, and show dynamic hovertext including hunger and breeding stats.
  • ✅ Hunting increases breeding progress and supports XP leveling.
  • ✅ Our texture system is finalized and all launch traits are complete, including full support for Limited Edition companions and special models.
  • ✅ Food shells are in-world and functional.

We’ve also completed full database integration, and every egg and Puff is tracked server-side.

What’s Next?

We’re working now on adding Jet Fuel as a premium food option, finalizing the retirement system for older Puffs, and implementing an in-world updater.

We’re also finalizing the mesh for Eggs and our Flight Control Tower.
